Chirped-pulse amplification in the ultraviolet region is demonstrated by use of a broadband Ce:LiCaAlF/sub 6/ laser medium. For the TW CPA system, a coaxially pumped, large-aperture ultraviolet power-amplifier is demonstrated with stable pump source using Li/sub 2/B/sub 4/O/sub 7/ crystals.
