This paper presents an innovative way to combine edge detection and linking using wavelet representation and image fusion. We describe how to detect and link edges automatically in connection to horizontal and vertical orientations selectivity of the human visual system. We develop a new framework with three stages: decomposition, recomposition, and fusion. In addition, our framework integrates both linear and nonlinear wavelet constructions in a single application. The framework is applied to 512x512, 8-bit gray scale images and results are presented.
