This paper proposes a new secure upstream technique that uses two polarization beam splitters for CSMA/CD-based Ethernet passive optical networks. This method is especially effective for laser transmitters, allowing for higher split ratio or higher-speed access. Further, this method is less susceptible to the effect of optical interference.
