Both fuel cells (FC) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) have wide applications in electric vehicles (EV). Combining the two technologies (FC and BESS) to form a hybrid EV provides the combined advantages of both technologies which improved response to transients, clean energy source, increased efficiency and increased autonomy. In this study, using maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to control the FC output and its impact on the overall power train is investigated.
