Summary form only given. The Precision Laser Machining program, sponsored by DARPA, is developing high-brightness diode-pumped solid-state lasers to enable new laser machining processes. High brightness 500-W lasers have been developed, 3 kW has been demonstrated, and scaling to the multi-kW level is in progress. New machining processes, made possible by high brightness lasers, will be displayed.
