In this paper, an object description for the use in data fusion applications for driver assistance systems is presented. Furthermore, an approach for the fusion of data based on this description is given. This algorithm is also applicable to the filtering problem due to its universal formulation. The usefulness and the performance of the algorithms are evaluated by experimental results. The scope of this work is to realize vehicle surroundings monitoring for urban driver assistance systems based on sensor data fusion.
