Evaluation of the actual performance capabilities of airborne systems against electronic threats in a real-world environment is one of the foremost concerns in the acceptance of a newly introduced airborne platform. Ground based threat simulator systems have been widely used in both testing and training; however, simulations of airborne emitters are also required to fully test any new aircraft weapon system. This paper presents the concepts for a low-cost simulation of complex threat radar emitters for a variety of Blue, Gray, and Red threat systems and discusses in detail the operation of the software models used to control system operation.
