• Safe air traffic operations are assured by the independence of communications, navigation, and surveillance services • Impact to safety due to a failure of any single service can be still be mitigated by the availability of the other two services • CNS services must be robust and resilient to ensure safety can always be maintained • In the 21st century trust in CNS services should not be assumed without a means to verify their source and integrity.
