This study investigates the spatial and temporal distribution of oil spills in the northern Bintan waters during the year 2020, using a combination of remote sensing data, weather modeling, and density map analysis. The research focuses on understanding the influence of seasonal wind and sea current patterns on the dispersion and concentration of oil spills. Physical model data from the Indonesia Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) was integrated with field measurements and produce reanalysis to generate accurate wind and sea current maps. Oil spill occurrences, identified through remote sensing, were analyzed across four seasonal periods, wet season, transition I, dry season, and transition II by converting polygon data into points with 100-meter spacing and generating heatmaps with 500-meter grid resolution. The results revealed a strong correlation between seasonal physical conditions and the distribution of oil spills, with significant concentrations observed along the coast during the wet season and transition I. This study highlights the effectiveness of using a high-resolution heatmap approach for visualizing spill occurrences and provides valuable insights for enhancing oil spill response strategies in the region. The methodologies and findings presented can inform future research and environmental management practices in coastal areas with similar dynamics.
