This study focuses on assessing the socio economic impact from investments in the field of cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems (c-ITS) in Greece. For quantifying the impacts of c-ITS, a survey-based study was designed and executed. The questionnaire encompassed questions on: i. technology awareness, ii. general economic, environmental and system performance factors and threats, and iii. respondent's socio-economic characteristics. Findings revealed the degree of uncertainty of Greek people on the spectrum of c-ITS applications and their implementation in Greece. Other findings revealed the perceived effect of c-ITS to public transport, the maximum amount of money that users are willing to invest for owning a c-ITS ready vehicle and the future degree of penetration of such technologies in the Greek market. The statistical model estimation results indicated that the perceived impacts of c-ITS to the economy were reflected on trade, production of goods and services, real estate and fuel prices (ranked based on their importance).
