This paper explains the working of robust solar powered DC Drive for Electric Vehicle (EV) applications. Solar powered EVs are highly unstable; the stability and reliability is obtained with the help of DSMFC. The DC drive is powered by solar and the maximum power is obtained by MPPT technique. The MPPT algorithm adjusts the gate pulse of the Boost Converter and the output of the same is given to the DC Bus. The battery controller takes input from the DC bus and controls the battery. The EV takes power from the DC bus; the voltage given to the DC drive is adjusted by controlling the gate pulse of the chopper by DSMFC. The robustness of the drive is proved by adjusting the reference speed of the drive, introducing shading effect and varying irradiation of the PV array.
