A 15 channels /spl times/ 10GHz pulsed source has been generated with an extinction ratio >35 dB using an electro-absorption modulated semiconductor-optical-amplifier multi-wavelength ring laser. Interleaved waveband switching is achieved by electrically controlling the cavity birefringence.
