We demonstrate that second-order nonlinear optical susceptibility /spl chi//sup (2)/ and third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility /spl chi//sup (3)/ are related, in part, and that /spl chi//sup (3)/ has intrinsic pulsewidth dependence even with a single nonlinear constituent.
