A buck pulse width modulated (PWM) dc-dc converter operating in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) has been analyzed based on the principles of energy conservation. Efficiency equations have been developed and compared to an experimental circuit. Results demonstrate acceptable agreement between calculated and experimental values.<>
