The presence of impulsive disturbances in their electric circuitry is one of the reasons that at present prevent the use of electronic devices in cars. Indeed, impulsive disturbances not only can affect the correct performance of electronic devices, but also can even damage them irreparably. Different types of impulsive disturbances were measured on six models of cars, all of the same make, under various traffic conditions, namely: cars at rest and cars driven in the city traffic, or along highways or mountain roads. The tests on the cars at rest were performed using a memory oscilloscope equipped with a polaroid camera and those on the cars in motion using a pulse-amplitude classifier. It has been possible to classify the impulse disturbances; for every type photographs of the pertinent waveforms are shown and commented on. Two photographs of an impulsive disturbance, that under specific conditions can be present on the car circuitry and irreparably damage the electronic ignition system, are displayed.
