Traffic congestion causes many problems, and deaths occur as a result of delays in emergency vehicles reaching their destinations. Therefore, our top priorities are to reduce traffic in society and create space for emergency vehicles to move through traffic freely. The project comprises of two phases. In phase one, Arduino nano is deployed to program a command for 4-way directional control, and in phase two, the Arduino UNO is used to program for emergency situation control. The traffic lights are altered to only turn ON at that precise moment, up until or unless the frequency of emergency vehicles coincides with the sensor's operating range. The sensor in this instance is positioned at a specific distance to optimize the density and frequency of traffic flow in order to maintain an effective traffic signal control system at a specific intersection. The traffic lights continue to handle their standard delay function once none of the sensors have detected a sign.
