A Ka-band second harmonic gyroklystron amplifier is developing at the Institute of Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Based on the self-consistent nonlinear calculation code GKLSC and the 2.5D particle-in-cell code CHIPIC, a conceptual design has been completed. The results show that this Ka-band three cavity gyroklystron can obtain more than 250kW output power, 28% electron efficiency, more than 26dB gain, and 110MHz bandwith. The gyroklystron prototype has been fabricated, and is preparing to do hot test.
