We introduce a novel scheme to obtain the I/Q signals optically using a dual head fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor and an optical-path-controlled Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Using the scheme as a demodulator for the FBG sensor, intensity-based measurement of dynamic strain was experimentally demonstrated.
