At present, a large number of Controlled Flight into Terrain (CFIT) accidents are caused by insufficiency of situation awareness, such as low visibility or complexity of terrain. Synthetic Vision System (SVS) was proposed by NASA to solve the problem, which uses plane sensor data and highresolution terrain database to provide pilots with a clear view of the scene outside the aircraft. China is building her new large commercial airliner C919 which could include SVS. This paper mainly discusses the application of SVS in civil aircraft of China, and the challenge it faces.
