High power current-source rectifier (CSR) is widely used in medium-voltage electric motor drives. A switching frequency of around 500Hz is normally applied to minimize switching losses. In this study, model predictive space vector pattern control (MPSVPC) is proposed for high power CSRs to realize superior dynamic performance with a constant low switching frequency in steady states. The proposed approach is verified via simulation on a (1MW/4160V/139A) system.
