Demonstration of a self-adaptive pico-second Nd:YVO/sub 4/ laser system based on a photorefractive phase conjugate mirror is presented . The system can generate high average power diffraction-limited pico-second output. The maximum output power reached up to /spl sim/8 W. This value is the highest, to the author's knowledge, obtained by self-adaptive 1/spl mu/m laser systems in pico-second regime.
