In this study, we introduce an innovative detection strategy for MIMO systems employing Orthogonal Time Sequency Multiplexing (OTSM) modulation, significantly enhanced by Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS). IRS technology optimizes the propagation environment by smartly reflecting signals toward the receiver, thereby amplifying signal strength and minimizing path loss. Our approach, designed to excel even under hardware constraints like carrier frequency offset (CFO), incorporates maximum ratio combining (MRC) to further enhance signal quality by mitigating multipath and inter-antenna interference. This low-complexity detection method significantly elevates MIMO-OTSM system performance, underscoring its transformative potential for wireless technologies. Results indicate that single-user (SU) MIMO-OTSM with an MRC detector, augmented by IRS, outperforms traditional detectors in spatially correlated channels, solidifying the system’s superiority in complex propagation scenarios.
