The model for interaction of an ultrashort optical pulse with chirped mirror is developed through exact analysis of the pulse waveform. This allows to optimize chirped mirror design in terms of pulse parameters (duration, time-bandwidth product, energy dissipation, FWHM, RMS). Cases of single mirror, double mirror, normal and oblique incidence, s- and p-polarizations are considered. The problem of mirror optimization is examined. Titanium dioxide and silicon nitride structures oriented to ¿ 800 nm are compared.
