This paper illustrates design considerations and experimental evaluation for LLC resonant converter with wide battery voltage range based on the FHA (fundamental harmonic approximation) analysis. Different from the conventional LLC design at zero load, the ratio K of the transformer magnetizing inductor LM to the resonant inductor LR in this design is optimized with two charging points (Vo(min), Io(max1)) and (Vo(max), Io(max2)) according to the battery charging profile. A 2.9kW prototype is built to verify the design. And it converts 400V from the Boost PFC to an output voltage range of 36V to 72V dc, achieving a peak efficiency of 96 %.
