We demonstrate an all-optical digital half-subtracter/adder that performs bit-wise subtraction and addition of two binary data streams. Two SOAs and a periodically-poled lithium-niobate waveguide generate borrow, difference/sum, and carry outputs with maximum 1.0-dB power penalty.
