Hole drilling is one of the basic machining operations. Deep hole drilling is used in almost every branch of industry. The development of industry requires the production of details with high geometric accuracy. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of the deep hole drilling strategy on the geometric accuracy of drilled holed. Different machining strategies were applied by modifying the HEIDENHAIN cycle 205. Holes were drilled in an aluminum plate made of EN AW-2024 T651 alloy. The study has demonstrated that hole drilling strategies significantly affect the geometric accuracy of drilled holes. The lowest geometric accuracy accuracy of holes was obtained for the drilling process conducted with the same parameters and infeed but without the use of a preliminary drill.
