We demonstrated a diode spectroscopy system with a compressively strained InGaAs/InGaAsP laser which emits at 2.05-/spl mu/m wavelength. In this wavelength region, there has been strong absorption lines of /sup 13/CO/sub 2/ and /sup 12/CO/sub 2/ gas.
