Traffic jams arise from an imbalance in the supply of and demand for road space. One can understand that reducing traffic jam means either increasing the supply of road space or reducing the demand for road loading. This work focuses on how to alleviate the demand for peak automotive travel. We propose a new control method to simulate and analyze a traffic jam zone happened in an urban traffic network by using Aimsun. Finally, we also do three scenario cases low, middle and heavy traffic flow works to compare with normal regular traffic light control rules, the diamond control strategy and our new control policy. Simulation results show that our new propose traffic control policy is the best one among the others.
