To study approaches to cloud-based “ambient connection” networks, a Resilient Network Advanced Testbed (RESINATE) is in development as a distributed facility near Kirtland Air Force Base, NM. RESINATE sites are based on a nodal, global network access terminal (GNAT) reference architecture that supports connection to arbitrary (laser and radio-frequency) modem/transceivers. The GNAT-internal routers flexibly support various network protocols, and the sites can intermingle with network simulation and emulation.
