This paper, presents the tunable optical FSK transmitter a suitable encoding technique for transmitting label data in an IP/GMPLS data-switched optical network, using a grating-assisted coupler sampled reflector (GCSR) InGaAsP/InP laser. It is concluded that with the right reflector and phase current settings, a symmetrical FSK detuning for 32 ITU channels can be achieved and can be used for optical labeling of packets in a packet-switched network.
