Summary form only given. Coherent lightwave detection techniques are widely used in optical and infrared remote sensing, and in optical metrology. We report a new coherent lightwave detection technique with an amplitude-squeezed local oscillator (LO) field which can be applied for general cases including backward scattering measurements in coherent lidar or other sensing techniques.
