Globalization has made most of the people to move towards urban cities. Due to the agitated lifestyle in these cities and as the distance between the work place and residence is more there has been a drastic increase in the number of vehicles on the road which has led to many accidents to occur. So, on the road, the safely of the driver and the vehicle is very important. These challenges have lead for Mobile Ad-hoc Network to emerge. VANET is the life-changing application for safety. In this paper, we will discuss mainly the protocols, architectures and their characteristics used for the inter-transmission of packets in various communication models.
