A current harmonics suppression method for permanent magnet synchronous motor drives is presented in this paper. The harmonic model of permanent magnet synchronous motor is analyzed. According to this harmonic model, the harmonic current can be estimated. The harmonic suppression method using PI or P controllers is then demonstrated. With the presented method, the current harmonics in d- and q- axis can be suppressed independently and selectively. Experimental results show that the presented method can provide a good performance on harmonics suppression.
