Presented results of the work of collecting information about aircraft and aircraft engines in more than 30 Russian museums. They are presented in a traditional paper version as well as a database in Excel, allowing to analyze an array of 800 identified aviation artifacts on a number of parameters, and identify the most valuable exhibits. Based on the analysis of the collected material is made of aviation museums periodization, traced the positive and negative trends in their work in the post-Soviet period.
