Frequency step-tunable megawatt gyrotrons are of great interest for controlling instabilities in magnetically confined fusion plasmas. The important key for realization of such long-pulse gyrotrons is to minimize the stray radiation inside the gyrotron. Therefore the efficiency of the gyrotron's dimpled-wall antenna has to be optimized for the set of operating modes.
