Terahertz backward wave oscillators (BWOs) are needed for spectroscopy applications from astrophysics to chemical and biological agent detection. A 600-700 GHz BWO is nearing completion that includes a depressed collector and high purity, quasi-optical, output beam. Design, fabrication, and results to date are presented.
