This article presents hybrid fuzzy-PI controller based speed control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) electric vehicle applications. This hybrid fuzzy-PI controller effectively controls the speed and torque of PMSM. The controller has ability to perform better during steady-state conditions like a traditional PI controller and works well in the transient conditions as fuzzy logic controller does. Therefore, for optimum operation of PMSM drive at any condition is handled by hybrid fuzzy-PI controller with combined effect of PI and fuzzy logic controller. Subsequently, PMSM drive is modeled and analyzed in MATLAB/Simulation software to check its performance under any working conditions. Furthermore, hardware-prototype of PMSM drive has been partially performed.
