This paper identifies location of users' residence and work place and bus trip chain of commuters in Songjiang district of Shanghai city based on mobile phone data and GPS data, which can be used to analyze residents' commuting characteristics. Then, in this paper, we analyze commuter residents in the public transit trip chain, commuters usually have a fixed trip mode in the working day. The whole process includes walking to the nearest bus station, waiting for the appropriate bus, traveling to the destination, walking to work place. Therefore, the total time includes walking time, waiting time and travel time. The example of the total time these commuters use in this paper is 48min, which is about twice the driving time. Through the residents of the bus travel chain analysis, we can find out which part of the whole process has problem, which has very important practical application value for traffic and urban adjustment and planning.
