It is not uncommon for motor vehicle owners to negligently leave children who are not capable of acting on their own in their vehicles, resulting in dehydration, heat stroke, overheating and even death. Based on this, this paper designs and develops a child retention monitoring and protection system in a vehicle. The system uses micro-controller control and multiple sensors for fusion. After sensing that the owner has parked the car and left, it uses pressure sensors and infrared body detection sensors to actively determine whether there are any stranded children in the car, and monitors the environmental data in the car through temperature sensors as well as carbon dioxide sensor detection. When the temperature or carbon dioxide concentration in the vehicle is too high and the child is at risk of suffocation or dehydration, the system controls the opening of the vehicle's windows to ensure the safety of the child inside. At the same time, a distress message is automatically sent via the alarm module to the mobile phone of the vehicle contact person, gaining time for rescue and saving the life of the trapped child.
