Multi-agent systems are characterized by autonomous agents that interact and communicate with each other to accomplish a given task. In different domains, obstacles and failures can occur influencing the operational processes of the system. Therefore, a preventive approach to handle failures that arise internally i.e. inside the system or externally in the operating environment is needed. In this paper, we investigate the failure-handling mechanism of BDI vehicle agents in Autonomous Mobility on Demand. Specifically, we consider the failure of vehicles during operation. Failures can cause the vehicle to miss the trips of customers. We implemented a failure-handling mechanism that enables a fleet of vehicles to redistribute customers' trips within the fleet in cases of failure.
