This paper proposes a method for minimizing the ripple in electromagnetic torque. The primary drawback of a brushless DC motor (BLDC) that limits its precise functioning is the torque ripple produced during the commutation time. In this study, the mathematical analysis of the torque ripple in brushless DC motor on application of DC-DC converter has been conducted. Also, a theoretical analysis of the relationship between the duty ratio of the DC-DC converter with torque ripple of BLDC motor has been presented. In this work, the influence of the duty ratio and commutation time in torque ripple has been analyzed. This work aims at reducing torque ripple of BLDC motor from the view point of duty ratio of switched-capacitor (SC) based zeta converter and commutation time.
