In this article, we present two distinct moment generating function (MGF) based methods for evaluating the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) of diversity-enabled energy detectors in κ-μ and η-μ generalized fading environments and their corresponding area under the ROC curve (AUC) performance measure. In contrast to the existing approaches that are based on either the circular contour integral (i.e., MGF-residue technique) and/or infinite series representations of the generalized Marcum Q-function Qu(.,.), we utilize an exponential-type integral for Qu(.,.) to facilitate the tasks of finding the statistical expectations over the probability density function (PDF) of combiner output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) with independent and non-identically distributed (i.n.d) fading statistics and/or correlated diversity paths. The resulting unified analytical expressions are very compact and easy to program/compute.
