A photonic temporal differentiator based on cascaded microring resonators is proposed. By approaching the critical coupling condition of through port of the cascaded microrings, first order all-optical differentiation functionality can be realized. The proposed scheme is experimentally verified by Gaussian-like pulse trains with data rate up to 80 Gb/s.
