Integration of non-conventional energy sources either with utility grid or as standalone system (SAS) is gaining importance in the energy scenario. This paper proposes integration of photovoltaic (PV) system into a single-phase standalone system, through 9 level cross connected source multilevel inverter (CCSMLI). The main advantage of CCSMLI topology is its fewer component count, which further results in less complexity in circuit, reduction in cost and size of system [1]. Two identical PV modules are connected across inverter nearest level control (NLC) technique is adopted for the control of inverter switches. Unlike high switching frequency modulation schemes, NLC provides low switching frequency which do not require redundancy of switching states which further results in less processing time at implementation stage [5]. The entire simulation is carried out in MATLAB/Simulink environment.
