Proper maintenance of manholes is crucial to prevent critical issues. Regular inspections are necessary to ensure proper hygiene in our society. In India, the improper closure of manholes caused 102 deaths in 2019, and many people continue to die while cleaning sewers. Unfortunately, the death toll from sewer cleaning is rapidly increasing each year. To address these issues, a secure manhole management system has been developed. This system monitors the position of the manhole lid and alerts the Municipal Corporation when it is moved. The manhole management system not only helps in preventing accidents but also improves the overall efficiency of the maintenance process. With real-time monitoring and alerts, the Municipal Corporation can quickly respond to any issues and undertake necessary repairs or cleaning. This system also helps in reducing the manual effort and cost involved in inspecting each and every manhole manually. In addition, it enables the authorities to identify the areas that require frequent cleaning or repairs, thus improving the maintenance planning and resource allocation. A secure manhole management system can be implemented to guarantee the safety of maintenance workers and prevent the loss of lives resulting from inadequate maintenance of manholes.
