Investigation of curvilinear motion of automobile plays important role when discussing active safety of motor vehicles. Behaviour of automobile in curvilinear motion is influenced by driver, atmospheric conditions and vehicle properties. Mainly driver influences vehicle motion safety through respecting (or not) traffic safety rules. Hazardous behaviour seems to be the main reason for traffic incidents. This article presents a method of recording data from CAN bus of automobile which are significant in case of curvilinear motion. These signals are decisive when concerning anti-lock brake system (ABS), anti-slip regulation and electronic stability program (ESP). These are: wheels’ angular velocities, vehicle yaw angular velocity, lateral acceleration of a vehicle and steering wheel angle.Presented method requires application of special measurement card together with special LabView application, responsible for recording data from vehicle’s CAN bus. This measurement equipment is much cheaper compared to traditional measurement systems. However, CAN bus signals are sampled with lower frequencies compared to traditional measurement systems.
