Using a laser-driven RF gun to generate a sub-picosecond electron beam, a monochromatic, tunable X-ray source has been developed and is currently under test. We describe the design details and computer simulations used in developing the RF gun as well as the complete beam line. The gun performance measurements are presented along with experimental results of the complete X-ray source.
