In this paper, we analyze temporal and spectral properties of sub-4 fs optical pulses with over-one-octave bandwidth using Wigner distribution function (WDF). The analytic results suggested that WDF enables us to intuitively and usefully obtain more information about the deviation from the perfect Fourier transform limited FTL pulse than other representations for monocycle-like pulse generation.
