Thin top-cladding mid-IR interband cascade (IC) lasers have been demonstrated at temperatures up to 310 K. Preliminary results show that the performance is comparable to thick cladding IC lasers, which will lead to the easier fabrication of DFB lasers. The detailed characteristics of these lasers and updated results are presented.
