In bulk cargo terminals, machinery failures during vessel berthing operations inevitably disrupt the normal loading and unloading processes. The berth allocation process in such terminals encompasses numerous failure scenarios, with variations in the timing and severity of machinery malfunctions, resulting in numerous operational challenges for vessels. To tackle these problems, this study investigates two recovery strategies aimed at modifying the existing berth allocation plans. The research focuses on enhancing the time-based resilience metric, considering the diverse scenarios of machinery failures in bulk cargo terminals. By implementing dual-strategy recovery approaches, this study aims to mitigate the impact of machinery failures on vessel operations and optimize the berth allocation process. The findings of this research contribute to the development of effective strategies for minimizing disruptions and improving the overall operational efficiency of bulk cargo terminals.
